The 2012 All Ireland Credit Union School Quiz

Congratulations to all teams that took part in the St. Canice’s Credit Union Schools Quiz held in Hotel Kilkenny on Monday 06 February.  The annual event has become the highlight of the credit union calendar with almost 200 children taking part representing 17 local primary schools. With the aim of encouraging teamwork among young school children under the age of 13, the questions for the quiz are compiled by primary school teachers and cover topics such as geography, history, music, literature and sport.

After a tie break, the winning team in category A (under 11) was Clara National School with St. John’s Senior School in second and St. Canice’s Co. Ed. in third place. With another exciting tie break in category B (under 13) the Gaelscoil Osrai narrowly edged their way to success over the students from the Kilkenny School Project.  The winners of both the A and B category will take part at the regional level of the All Ireland Credit Union School Quiz in March and should either be successful at that level, they will then go on to compete in the National Finals in Dublin in early April, 2012.

St. Canice's Credit Union would like to take this opportunity to thank the pupils, parents, teachers and principals of the participating schools for helping the Credit Union make the quiz such a fantastic and worthwhile event.
